Peppermint Pig Pottery ~ Dinah Gihring Pottery is a passion I came to in my late thirties, one I’ve loved ever since. The tactile process, the smell of fresh clay and the excitement of opening the kiln after a firing, keep me hooked. I try to create things that people yearn to touch. I want you to smile when you take a piece off the shelf or out of the cupboard, and when you hold a mug in your hands I hope you to feel you’re holding a friend.
I recently retired and relocated from Albuquerque New Mexico, to Paducah Kentucky. Born and raised in the UK, I think my art conveys a little something from home that compliments the skills that I learned along the way as an illustrator and forensic artist among other things. Now that I have more time, I am enjoying the freedom to further develop my skills and refine my style. Each piece is unique, the clay and glazes are lead-free and entirely food safe. Most can go in the oven, dishwasher or microwave, though be aware that the nature of the material causes it to retain heat, even in the microwave, so watch your fingers! |
